PEIA
and Its Mission
The
Pacific Energy Innovation Association (PEIA)
is an independent, non-profit association of energy professionals
incorporated under the Societies Act of British Columbia.
Mission:
To initiate and promote discussion and action for energy innovation,
efficiency and sustainability.
PEIA
offers objective, thought-provoking dialogue on energy
supply, demand and the associated technologies and policies required by
sustainable economies in the near- and long-term.
While its
efforts are focused on British Columbia and Western Canada,
PEIA
seeks opportunities for collaboration with organizations in other
jurisdictions to further mutual objectives. PEIA
recognizes that most issues and challenges are global, but
solutions must be regional to meet local economic and environmental
needs.
Activities
PEIA
furthers its mission through three types of activities:
-
Events –
such as the such as the Charting Our Energy Future
series of forums, issue-specific discussion workshops and
networking receptions.
-
Energy Breakfasts –
informal, early-morning discussion meetings featuring a presentation
by an authoritative speaker on a current subject, with plenty of
opportunity for questions, comments and interaction among all those
attending.
-
Projects –
to promote action by: defining and evaluating issues and
options; formulating strategies and plans for action; communicating
with stakeholders and decision makers about progress.
